Solbjorg (Sue) Daubner moved to Door County in 1976 from Wheaton, IL. She and her husband David, a Door County native, opened the Sister Bay Café in 1994 and truly enjoyed meeting, greeting and feeding the many locals and visitors in Door County. After 18 years, they decided to retire and, like most retirees in Door County, started new jobs! Signing on with Professional Realty was not too much of a stretch for Sue, as she had worked with Carolyn Hitzeman in real estate before opening the Café. Sue enjoys her Norwegian heritage with rosemaling (Norwegian folk painting), Hardanger (embroidery) and acrylic painting. A highlight of her life was conducting the Peninsula Music Festival on opening night in 2004. Stop in and ask her about it! She'll be glad to give you the details. Sue is also a member of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church and has served on their council, sings in the choir and plays in the bell choir.
Sue and David live in Northern Door. Daughter Lisa and her husband Ron MacDonald, along with their children Lena and Connor, own and work at the Northern Grill in Sister Bay. Daughter Maia Michalsen and her daughter Hanna also live in Sister Bay. Maia is a massage therapist and Hanna an equestrian. Son Eric and his wife Ann live in North Aurora, Illinois. Eric is a computer whiz and Ann is, among other vocations, a lawyer and was a roller derby queen. Their beautiful baby girl Grace, along with her cousins, are all above average!
