MADISONVILLE HOPKINS COUNTY BOARD
OF REALTORS® HISTORY
On May 10, 1966 the Madisonville-Hopkins County Board of REALTORS® was chartered through the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. In February, 1975 the Madisonville-Hopkins County Board of REALTORS® was incorporated and Bill Rudd, Sr. served as President. When the Board was first started, the MLS book was a loose leaf notebook with a part-time MLS person. 1976 brought the change of a bound MLS book and a part-time secretary for both the Board and the MLS. In 1979.
Many changes have taken place throughout the years – such as the MLS being incorporated and then being dissolved and formed as a committee of the Board, members going from picking up keys of listed properties from the listing offices to operating an electronic lockbox and key system, from having as many as three employees to having one and from doing things by hand to becoming fully computerized. They now own their own building at 275 South Main Street, Madisonville, KY 42431, occupying suite A while renting out suite B.
