CHFA has a new program "FirstGeneration"

give your first-generation borrowers $25,000 in assistance

CHFA FirstGeneration sm and CHFA FirstGeneration Plus sm provide up to $25,000 in down payment, regardless of first mortgage loan amount, to help first-generation homebuyers access homeownership.

Who is a First-generation Homebuyer?

CHFA defines a First-generation Homebuyer as any Borrower who has never owned a home and whose parents or guardians never owned a home during the borrower’s lifetime. Borrowers who have lived in the foster care system do not need to be First-generation Homebuyers but must have never owned a home.

How do we verify First-generation Homebuyer status?

It’s simple: CHFA Form 401, Initial Applicant Affidavit, has been updated to include this definition. Borrowers will attest to meeting the definition by executing this form.
