Kay Bivens was born and reared in Slaton, Texas where she graduated from high school. She continued her studies and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics at Texas Tech University where she was a proud member of the ‘Goin’ Band From Raiderland’ all four years. After graduating, she married Robert T. “Bob” Bivens. They had a wonderful son, Reece, and a lovely daughter, Missy who is married to Jay Floyd, “the best son-in-law in the world!” They were also blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, Taylor and Addison. Bob joined their son, Reece in heaven in June of 2021. Her two cats, Agatha and Beauregard, and dog, Fritz complete the family.

The Bivens family moved to Midland in February 1980 from Lubbock and have loved every minute of living in this great community. After having worked for an oil company the first nine years, Kay accepted the Campaign Director position at United Way of Midland and 7 years later continued her career as a fundraising professional at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin as Director of Institutional Advancement. This enabled her to make many new friends in Odessa and continue her association with many colleagues and friends in Midland.

Kay launched her career in 2011 at Legacy Real Estate and feels privileged to be part of this great organization of professionals. A ‘people person,’ she loves working with her clients and is dedicated to providing them her expertise and accessibility, regardless of whether they are buying or selling a home.

An active member of First Baptist Church, the Midland Rotary Club and Executive Women of Midland, Kay has also been active on many non-profit boards over the years. She currently serves on The Life Center Board of Directors, the Board of Spectrum of Solutions (formerly known as MARC), and the Endowment Board of Casa de Amigos.
